The Cheongju Museum of Art (Director: Park Wonkyu) is presenting its final planned exhibition of the year, titled “The Observers Are Observed."
This exhibition features works that interpret various phenomena of contemporary society from an artistic perspective. Just as a satellite observes Earth from afar, the participating artists have taken a distanced view to examine society, visually expressing events, cultures, and ideologies within it. Visitors are invited to explore these perspectives through the artists' visual language.
For over a decade, artist AN Gyungsu has traveled through various suburban areas, focusing on the landscapes at the edges between cities. He transforms the sensations he internalizes while following the byproducts of these landscapes into the language of painting. Observing each object and scene closely, he gradually reinterprets the essence beyond each through his unique style of painting.
