[News] Who are the four nominees for the "Artist of the Year 2024" award at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea?

For artist KWON Hayoun, who explores the nature of memory and recording, virtual reality (VR) serves as a medium that transcends the limitations of the real world, creating shared experiences of memory by bringing unrealized worlds to life. Her works often delve into stories lost to history, such as inaccessible places, memories existing only in the mind, or unrecorded events. This exhibition features three of her previous works, along with the new piece Guardians of Oksan (2024), which collectively reveal his complex perspective on memory and documentation. The VR installation Guardians of Oksan tells the story of a friendship between a tribal chief from Taiwan and a Japanese anthropologist, centered on the natural beauty of Oksan. This piece transcends the boundaries between fiction and reality, history and memory, inviting viewers to examine relationships that were previously hidden under the broader concept of "enemy."
