(...) Anxiety is not easily soothed. The more one struggles, the more the mind fractures and splinters. I know that moment of despair. "Unreal and bizarre"—that’s the common critique of KANG Cheolgyu’s paintings. But I see it differently. I would say, "They are deeply realistic." I approached the distorted and transformed bodies. And there, I saw my own emotions stretching out in every direction, unruly and raw.
