"Art Blossomed on the Border Where Violence and Life Coexist"… 2025 Kumho Young Artist Exhibition

The third floor is dedicated to artist KANG Cheolgyu's personal narrative world.
Over the past year, he has blended autobiographical experiences with elements of reality and fiction on his canvases. The half-human, half-beast figures that appear throughout his work represent a fractured self, reflecting his current state of being. These forms metaphorically express his inner conflict and introspection.

KANG explained, “I’ve often been told I’m timid because I tend to avoid revealing myself.” He continued, “After turning thirty, my self-loathing intensified, which triggered a strong desire to become a better person. I tried to capture this invisible process of shrinking and expanding as an image.”
He added, “If you look closely, some elements are bold and unfiltered, while others feature unfamiliar figures that reveal a sense of danger.”
