This exhibition catalogue was published for the solo exhibition of Jung Kangja,
which was held five years after the retrospective of Jung Kangja held in Arario Gallery Seoul and Cheonan, in 2018
Jung Kangja (1942~2017) challenged the established concept with radical actions and performances while disclosing her identity as a female. Since the late 1970s, she devoted herself to painting, projecting her life into various female figures, natural objects, and geometric shapes.
Exhibition 《It Has Always Been The Beginning》 introduces her works from 1995 to 2010, highlighting her intense and rich color palette and unique spirit of challenge. Surrealistic compositions with her own imagination revealed the life and passion of a female artist who went through a turbulent period in Korean modern history.
